Freycinet Tas
Freycinet refers to both a pensinsula and national park on the NE Tasmania coast. The peninsula encompasses the national park and the small settlement of Coles Bay and was named after the French explorer, Louis de Freycinet. The national park is located 193 km n-e of Hobart and covers almost 170 sq km. Founded in 1916, it is one of Tasmania’s oldest parks and features the spectacular granite peaks known as The Hazards. There are several other interesting formations of red granite and one of the world’s top beaches, Wineglass Bay is also nearby.
